It’s mid-July and you’ve already seen the final Harry Potter movie a half-dozen times, having re-read the books to catch yourself up on all the plot twists. Not only that, you’ve also spent the past week (including a lot of time standing in line at the movie theatre) devouring George R. R. Martin’s “A Dance with Dragons” after re-reading all the books in that series. Meanwhile, Peter Jackson’s adaptation of “The Hobbit” won’t hit theatres until 2012. What’s a fantasy fan to do for the rest of the summer? For a change of pace, why not acquaint yourself with the world of Gormenghast, created by the British writer and artist Mervyn Peake, born a century ago this month, in Kuling, China.
